This is a CVE online learning platform that provides free CVE online courses and resources. The courses have been developed in collaboration with CVE research hub partners to meet the needs of a broad range of users. The courses are intended to be a participatory experience with participants taking the lead in these discussions given their varied practical experiences working on CVE issues over the years.

Key issues in CVE discussions
This module will revisit the debates around terrorism and countering violent extremism (CVE) internationally and locally. It will explore and evaluate the local, national and international measures to curb terrorism, and also discuss emerging trends in CVE and terrorism.
Participants critically examine:
Emerging global, national and local trends in terrorism. What does the data and evidence tell us?
Responses to terrorism: local, national and international responses. What has changed?
Radicalization and extremism. What is new? What are the patterns and trends? What are we getting right or wrong?
Is CVE still a priority? What do the reduced attacks by Al Shabaab mean for CVE?
This module introduces some of the main considerations for practitioners when designing strategies to influence policy. It is set in the background that policymaking and implementation processes operate within a changing and political context. It is complex, and different players intervene, each with their own interests and motivations.
Participants will critically examine:
How policy development and implementation works at national and county levels
The politics and economics of policy making and implementation
How to identify and influence relevant actors at national and county levels
When and how to strategically enter, and influence the decision-making process.
Making informed decisions about the security and protection
This module seeks to build shared understanding about decision-making for security while doing CVE work. It also seeks to refine decision-making skills for protection while doing CVE work. Participants will be required to perform a context and stakeholder mapping and analysis.
Participants will critically examine:
Contexts, actors and threats
Individual and institutional risks, vulnerabilities and capacities
Assessment and analysis of security incidents
Preventing and responding to threats and attacks
Security and technology
Building networks and partnerships for better security
This module provides a general overview of the CVE Research Hub including the database on terrorism incidents that is under development. This overview will invite participants to interact with the proposed CVE Research Hub and database to evaluate its relevance and appropriateness to their needs, interests and priorities.
Participants will critically examine: -
The CVE Research Hub digital platform under construction and provide critical feedback and input to improve on its completion
The terrorism observatory to establish relevance and adequacy of the data and information.
Options for using the Hub in order to strengthen bonds and network building among researchers, practitioners and policymakers;
This module seeks to facilitate the exchange of ideas and networking of CVE researchers, practitioners and policymakers, in order to bridge gaps and improve communication and collaboration across disparate communities of practice.
Participants will critically examine:
How to enhance networks and partnerships for people doing CVE work.
Refine relevant skills for building and working through such networks and partnerships.
