Although it has tried to repeat its highly lethal attacks, Al Qaeda Central has been unable to strike successfully in the United States since 9/11 or in Western Europe since 7 July 2005 (London bombings). Logically, as with all complex social phenomena, the operational decline of the terrorist organization is the result of multiple factors. This article focuses on just one: the campaign of drone strikes against Al Qaeda Central in Pakistan, particularly North Waziristan.
